Fighting Fear...First, we internalize the observation that there is nothing to fear. In absolute terms, it doesn't take much to stay alive. Science has delivered us much. As long as we eat and rest sensibly, and apply our energies to a useful purpose, it isn't terribly hard to convince people to support our survival, and the survival of our immediate kin. Furthermore, if we are isolated and destroyed, we'll get another chance. Fear serves no purpose. Eliminating fear is not a decision made in a moment. It involves cerebral reconditioning. Every time we are faced with a threat, we review the fundamental realities. Because the predator has to conserve his powder, the threats typically start off small. We don't need to respond to the threats: as long as we don't submit to fear, we can't be isolated. We become a magnet for resistance by others. Now we have proponents: people that we have impressed with our courage and panache. They want freedom from fear as well, and often they will throw in with us. The response of the predator is typically to escalate. They know that when they lose the leverage of fear, they fall from their perch atop the food chain. Now comes the second step. In reinterpreting the chakras, I observed that the heart distributes energy, and that we have the ability to sense our wellness through time. I also observed, however, that every allocation of resources is competitive. The job of the predator is to construct a vision of the future that causes us to accept that we cannot achieve wellness. This is the effect of fear: to block us off from a vision of the future in which we sustain our wellness. Once we learn to suppress fear, we can stay in that sense of wellness. We feel it in our hearts. This becomes the gauge that we use to complete the process of cortical reconditioning. Whenever a future of fear and anguish is pushed upon us, we choose a different future with people that allow us wellness. We work as hard as we can to manifest that future in a concrete manner. If we fail, and must perish, we stay in our wellness as long as we can, attempting, in our final moments, to project it from this life into our next. |
